Customer seminar at ISL

Interesting discussions and presentations during the ISL customer seminar "Development and Opportunities with IMC" on 20/21 June 2013

"IMC is the future" was the conclusion of the In-Mould Coating (IMC) customer seminar hosted this year for the first time by ISL, manufacturer of colour pastes and lacquers for the plastic industry.

As a specialist for the manufacture and application of IMC lacquers, ISL hosted a two-day expert meeting to provide an opportunity for an intensive exchange between users, raw material suppliers and machine manufacturers on the topic of IMC. Both users of IMC technology and new customers were given the opportunity to obtain comprehensive information on ISL-IMC products and the associated service portfolio. Vivid discussions between the invited experts from application, raw materials, and machine technology gave all participants the chance to exchange ideas and information on the wide range of possible applications and machine innovations in IMC technology and to gain new impetus for future developments.

In addition to presentations by ISL regarding IMC technology and their own IMC product and service range, presentations by end users, machine manufacturers and panel discussions were on the agenda. The Herikon

B.V. company, for example, illustrated how, by using IMC lacquers, the life of buoys can be significantly increased and the manufacturing process becomes significantly more efficient. The Hennecke company, manufacturer of machines for polyurethane processing, showed that the use of IMC technologies to substitute thermoforming films allows for a simplified manufacturing process and saves costs. Desma, another well-known PU machine manufacturer, presented design-based applications for IMC lacquers such as the future personalization of footwear.

In particular, the open nature of the discussions and the wide application range of the IMC technology which was explained to the participants by the different presentations was met with great enthusiasm by all visitors. "The comments and ideas of the participating experts showed us that we are on the right path. The close and intensive dialogue with our customers and partners will also continue to be a major element of our development work in the area of IMC lacquers in the future," says Axel Rück, Marketing Director at ISL. "The IMC technology offers major advantages compared to a subsequent lacquer application and is highly versatile. This was confirmed by our customer seminar."

A tour through the ISL production facilities and the laboratory areas with interesting explanations regarding the manufacture and development of IMC lacquers by ISL specialists and a supporting program in the evening rounded off the seminar.
