Founded in Cologne, Germany, by Walter Höhler and Josef Rath
Original programme are special lacquers for industrial use, hence the name:
Industrial Special Lacquers

70's

Specialisation in pigment pastes for colouring polyurethane
Success and strong growth through market niche: creation of individual colour shades according to customer requirements

80's

Market leadership in pigment pastes for PU in Germany
Expanded portfolio with colour pastes for other plastics
(e.g. Soft-PVC, Epoxy resins)

90's

Systematic internationalisation of the business, focus on Western Europe (esp. Spain, Portugal, France)

1994

Relocation to the new industrial estate in Kürten with significant increase in production capacities

1997

Certification according to DIN EN ISO 9001:2000

1998

Sale of ISL to RheinChemieRheinau GmbH, Germany and integration into the Bayer group

1999

Further globalisation of the business, esp. in Asia and Americas

2003

Technological milestone with water-based paints (IMC) for polyurethane components in automobile interiors

2005

Sale of ISL to BERLAC GROUP, Switzerland

2006

Foundation of ISL Shanghai, China
Certification according to DIN EN ISO 14001:2004 (Environment) and ISO / TS 16949:2002 (Automotive)

2007

Market leadership in vinyl wall-paper industry

2008

Significant business expansion in Asia, esp. with key-accounts automotive

New Corporate Design under the umbrella brand BERLAC GROUP
Technological revision of the product line ISOVERSAL supported by
official funding of the German Government
